A Very Fine Inlaid Regency Tortoiseshell Tea Caddy Circa 1825.
A Very Fine Regency  Tortoiseshell two compartment tea caddy with pagoda shaped hinged top and ogee bombe sides extensively inlaid to top and front with mother of pearl and silver standing on stained ivory feet.

The shape and the shell figuring are particularly flamboyant.

The caddy is 15.75 cm high, 18.5 cm wide and 12.5 cm deep; 6.2 inches high by 7.28 inches wide and 4.9 inches deep.

The front of the caddy is extensively inlaid with a design of flowers executed with engraved mother of pearl and silver.
The double lidded interior, the lids veneered with tortoiseshell and having turned ivory handles.
The facings are also ivory. The inside of the lid is lined with blue velvet.

The underside of the lids and the inner surfaces still retain much of their leading.
